Psychotherapy FAQ
If you request an appointment, I will contact you and have a short email or phone exchange. We will then meet for an initial ½ hr session which is free of charge and is an opportunity for us to decide if we both agree on working together. This time is also an opportunity for you to ask questions about counselling and psychotherapy and for me, to give you some information about how to use the sessions. If we decide to proceed then there is a process of history taking and agreeing a working agenda.
How long do I come for?
I suggest that people come for an initial six weeks. After this time people usually have a sense of whether or not they wish to continue. Obviously you can terminate the sessions whenever you decide. It is usually a good idea however to have a final session in which we can draw our work to a close and formally end our working relationship.
How often do I need to come?
Usually clients come on a weekly basis at the same time each week.
How long do sessions last?
My sessions are for 60 minutes
Usually couple sessions are for the same time, they may sometimes be slightly longer. Couples may come less frequently than Individuals and usually for fewer sessions

My fees go up at the beginning of the year with a cost of living increment. You will be given notice before this happens
Cancellations and Missed appointments
If you give me 7 days’ notice, I will not charge you for a missed appointment. If you give me less than that I will.
Confidentiality?
Our work together is confidential. I do not discuss it with anyone other than my clinical supervisor, and within this context you are never referred to by your full name. There are a few occasions when holding confidentiality might jeopardize the immediate safety of you the client or a third party and in these instances confidentiality may, hopefully with your consent need to be reconsidered.
